Irish Stories in Latin America: Educational Resource Pack

This unique set of lesson plans aimed at 5th class and 6th class students in primary school (10-12 years old) explores some lesser known but remarkable stories of key Irish figures in Latin America, especially those that travelled to the region in the 18th and 19th centuries, attracted by the promise of adventure.

The pack includes accounts of historical figures like Admiral William Brown, a Mayo man who became the founder of the Argentinian navy and Eliza Lynch, a Cork-born woman who went on to become the first lady of Paraguay.

The project brings these historical figures to life and equips teachers with lesson plans to share these diverse stories with children in Irish schools. The pack is also available in Spanish and will seek to help to build awareness of Ireland among younger generations in primary schools across Latin America.
